These terms explain the rules for accessing and using LumenBooks.

1. About LumenBooks

LumenBooks is an online English reading library intended to support reading practice and vocabulary development. Content is organised by English proficiency level (CEFR) and includes stories, vocabulary features and word translations.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using LumenBooks, you agree to these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

3. Educational purpose

Content is provided for general English reading and learning practice. Level labels, vocabulary explanations and translations are learning aids and may not be exact or suitable for every learner. We do not guarantee any particular learning outcome, language level or examination result.

4. Our stories

The stories on LumenBooks are works of fiction written for language learners. Names, characters, businesses and events are fictional, and any resemblance to real people or organisations is coincidental. Some content may be created with the assistance of AI tools and is reviewed and published by the operator.

5. Permitted use

You may access the website for personal, non-commercial reading and learning. You may use ordinary browser features to read the content and to store your reading progress in your own browser.

6. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the LumenBooks website design, branding, stories, cover images and other materials are owned by or licensed to the website operator and are protected by intellectual property laws. Third-party materials, such as fonts, remain subject to their own licences.

You may not reproduce, republish, sell, distribute, publicly display, create derivative collections from or commercially exploit website content without prior written permission, except where the law allows it. If you believe any content infringes your rights, email contact@lumenbooks.org and we will review it promptly.

7. Prohibited activities

You must not use LumenBooks to:

• break the law or infringe another person’s rights;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its hosting or related systems;
• interfere with the website’s operation, security or availability;
• use automated scraping, crawling or bulk downloading to collect content, except for ordinary search-engine indexing or activity we have expressly authorised;
• copy or redistribute substantial portions of content without permission;
• click on or interact with advertisements artificially, generate invalid ad traffic or interfere with advertisements.

8. Advertising

LumenBooks is free to use and is supported by advertising provided by Google AdSense. Advertisements are provided by third parties; we do not control their content and do not endorse the advertised products or services. 9. Third-party services and links

The website relies on third-party services, including hosting, security, translation and advertising providers, and may link to external websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Their own terms and policies apply.

We aim to keep LumenBooks available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation or that all content and features will always remain available. We may update, suspend or discontinue any part of the website where reasonably necessary.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
